What to keep in a wallet bag, and what to do if it goes missing

How many cards a six-slot pocket takes, where to put the one you use most, and the first call to make if the bag is lost.

A wallet bag puts your cards, phone and keys in one crossbody so the wallet can stay at home. Two Roulens lines carry a six-slot RFID card pocket, and the Triple-Zip Crossbody carries eight slots without the RFID lining.

What fits in six slots

Six slots take one card each without stretching the pocket. A driver's license, two payment cards, a transit pass, a health insurance card and one store card fill them. Stack two cards in a slot and it holds, but the slot loosens and the pocket bulges through the front.

Where the card you use most should go

  • The card you tap ten times a day belongs in the front pocket with the magnetic snap, where one hand opens it.
  • Cards you use once a week belong behind the zip in the RFID pocket.
  • A passport, a spare key or cash you do not want to lose belongs in the back pocket that rests against you.

If the bag goes missing

Everything in one bag means everything goes at once. The Federal Trade Commission says what to do first:

Call — or get on the mobile app — and report the loss or theft to the bank or credit union that issued the card as soon as possible.

Speed matters because of how the protection works:

  • Keep a list of the cards in the bag, with the issuer's phone number for each, somewhere that is not the bag.
  • Turn on card controls in your bank's app now, so you can lock a card from your phone in a minute.
  • Photograph the front of your license and insurance card and keep the photos in your phone.

What an RFID pocket does and does not do

The lining in our RFID pockets is stated to block RFID signals of 13.56 MHz. It covers the cards inside the zip and nothing else: a card in the front pocket or in your hand is outside it. It does not stop a bag from being taken. The back pocket and a crossbody worn in front of you do more for that.
